Corte Madera Chronicles

A group blog; a place to share photos, thoughts, stupid shit we find on the internet, whatever. Hopefully we'll get at least one post per day from someone, and not so many posts that it's too overwhelming. Have fun!

Is it wrong to be more excited about H2G2 than ROTS?

Only because the film will be impossible to meet the expectations of a generation that experienced the books through the imagination of a childs mind.I suppose you could say the same about LOTR or the Star Wars prequels, but I feel this is somewhat different.

I try to remind myself how fortunate we are that Lucas is even making these films. We did go for almost 15 years after Jedi assuming there would be no more. I was clearly dissapointed after the last two films, (Especially the 1st) but through the eyes of a 13 year old I definitely recall being a little dissapointed with Jedi as well.

The bottom line is we get to see DARTH VADER!!! Holy shit!!! Yoda, Wookies, R2D2, 3PO, Palpetine, Jedi getting slaughtered, not everything our imaginations conjured up as children, but some of the things. And for me, this is all just gravy.

I was in Safeway yesterday, tired, & annoyed from events of the day when walking down an aisle I saw rows of 32oz Darth Vader Pepsi bottles staring back at me...I almost pissed my pants. I saw other familiar faces as well on boxes of chips, cereal, candy, etc. Yep, the marketing machine at Lucas film got another sucker to purchase their products...but I didn't mind, the sight of those familiar faces brought a smile to my face & completely changed my attitude about my day.

I am looking forward to H2G2, but ROTS is where my heart is.

yeah.

and the thing is the H2G2 movie's gonna be watered down, even if it managed to his adams' tone. it's secondhand.

ROTS, even though it'll probably suck like an ewok on the teat of boss nass, it IS star wars.

H2G2 is the version of the script that adams kept blocking.

at least bill nighy sounds good.

"Lori" was some kind of weird spam. It was annoying.

I think I was so traumatized by Episode I that I stopped thinking of the prequel trilogy as being "officially" Star Wars -- I lump it in with the video games and novels and comic books. But you guys are starting to get me excited again, which is good. I think. So long as I can stay excited and not let the bad parts ruin the exciting parts when I actually watch the movie.

PG-13? Check. Rabid Palpatine? Check. Vader, with suit and all? Check. The part of the story we've been waiting for over the last 6 years? Check.

I realize you like to be conservative in you enthusiasm over Starwars ever since Ep.I, but there is a fine line between keeping your enthusiasm in check, and being a total buzz-kill.

Don't let your hesitation ruin this for you. It is going to be good (on some levels at least). Focus on the positive. It's not going to win any academy awards, but it will be fun. Plus, you get to see it with all of your friends, most of which are dying to see it.

Buck up dde, this is going to rock!

Oh, and the line party is going to be a blast as well.
